Lindsey, or the Isle of Lind, is a region in eastern England. It is bounded on the west by the river Trent and the marshes of Haethfeld, on the north by the Humber, on the northeast by the Germanic Sea, on the southeast by the Wash, and on the south by the river Witham and the Fossdyke.
The people of Lindsey were called the Lindisware ("Lindsers"); they spawned the Lindisfaran ("Lind-farers"), who would migrate to Northumbria and the namesake isle of Lindisfarne.
After the 10th century, Lindsey formed a part of the larger district of Lincolnshire, along with Kesteven and Holland.
