David Madison Cawthorn (born August 1st, 1995) is a Sierran conservative political commentator and journalist who is the host of Madison Cawthorn Nightly on EBN News. His conservative-leaning political commentary show, which he has been host of since late 2019, is one of the highest rated cable news shows in Sierra, and is the most watched and highest rated show on EBN. Cawthorn is one of the youngest mainstream political commentators in Sierran history, becoming the host of his show at the age of 24.

Cawthorn was born in Hunington Beach, Orange on August 1st, 1995 and is a descendant of Federalist refugees from the United Commonwealth. During his senior year of high school, at the age of 18, Cawthorn would become partially paralyzed after being injured in a group surfing accident, forcing him to use a wheelchair. Cawthorn would attend Coastline Community College, but would never continue onto university. While attending community college, Cawthorn would become a political writer for EBN News, working directly under George Herring, who was host of Herring Now, the show that proceeded Cawthorn's. Cawthorn's conservative and patriotic-leaning writing would increase his nationwide profile, becoming well known and liked amongst conservative Sierrans. In late 2019, George Herring would announce his resignation and retirement from EBN News in order to run for a seat in the House of Commons. Herring would select Cawthorn to be his successor, with his show transferring to Cawthorn in November of 2019. Since becoming a cable news host, Cawthorn has risen as one of the most well-known and recognizable political commentators, with many considering him to be apart of the Big Three of Sierran Cable News, which is a term used to describe the influence that the three primetime EBN, RBS, and 16ON hosts have over the political life and news in Sierra. A member and staunch supporter of the Royalist Party, Cawthorn has expressed socially conservative viewpoints and ideas on his show. Cawthorn has said many controversial statements as well, resulting in multiple advertiser boycotts.

Politically, Cawthorn considers himself a social conservative and a patriot, however many have described his views as "nationalistic", a term which he has both embraced and denied. Cawthorn is against illegal immigration in Sierra, and continued benefits for illegal immigrants. He supports the deportation of illegal immigrants with criminal histories and backgrounds. Cawthorn is an opponent to the Conference of American States, calling it a "bloated mess". He supports a second referendum on Sierra's exit from the organization, claiming the first referendum's failure was due to Sierra's "ignorance" of the problems of the CAS at the time and false campaigning by the Remain camp. Cawthorn is a staunch supporter of gun rights and has stated his opposition to most forms of gun control. However, he does support laws that would notify law enforcement of a firearm purchase made by mentally-ill people. He also supports the idea of armed staff in order to counter school shootings. Cawthorn is a staunch opponent of socialism, making his opposition known throughout Madison Cawthorn Nightly. He and his predecessor George Herring are credited with the sudden rise of anti-socialism in the Sierran Right, which has being occurring since 2016. Since the election of Social Democrat Susan Kwon in 2020, Cawthorn has been considered her chief media critic.
