Mitsubishi Naginata

The ATD-X Naginata is a space-based fighter craft currently in development by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. When completed, the craft will be the primary component of space-based forces of the East Asian Federation. The Naginata was designed from experience gained from the Shanfeng Garrison's experience stationed in the Shan Orbital Station, consisting of several substantial upgrades to the existing F-29X Karasu's design.

Features

In addition to several improvements to the Karasu's design, such as better maneuverability and an all-energy weapon fitting, the Naginata is expected to be the first vehicle equipped with an experimental magnetoplasmadynamic drive engine, which is expected to yield significant improvements to speeds over current conventional technology. Weaponwise, the craft will feature extensive use of energy weapons, including charged particle weapons, and may also feature high-speed railguns.

Future

In the long term future, a complement craft is expected to be designed and built for the transport of Naginata and similar craft over long distances.
