History

Njördvik, founded in 1245 AD by settlers from the Serenlands, emerged as a modest hamlet within the jurisdiction of the Trio Monarchy, known locally as njǫrðrvík. By the mid-15th century, spurred by significant waves of discovery and migration from various feudal northern Seanish states, the indigenous Valhallans commenced construction on a sprawling fortress named Gungir Garden, extending from the village to a nearby forest later designated as Mistelbrunn. Completed in 1482, Gungir Garden became a focal point in a protracted, intricate, and often violent series of conflicts between the Trio Monarchy and many Seanish nations, notably punctuated by the Sacking of Gungir Hold, a conflict lasting from 1483 to 1523.

The early 19th century saw a gradual easing of tensions, though the Trio Monarchy and Prillovanian border remained closed into the mid-1800s. Diplomatic relations thawed in the late-1800s, ultimately culminating in an alliance between Prillovania and the Trio Monarchy. In 1956, Prillovanian President Bea Blume and the Emperor of the Trio Monarchy forged an agreement to reopen their borders and transform Gungir Garden into a joint heritage site celebrating the shared cultural legacy of Njördvik and Mistelbrunn. Aimed primarily at Valhallan, Memelandian, and Lesvoelian tourists, this initiative sought to promote cross-cultural exchange and tourism between the two nations.
