Ove Mikkel Jessen MP (February 11, 1865 – August 1, 1947) was a Danish-Canadian Admiral and politician who was the tenth prime minister of New Norway for three non-consecutive terms from 1932 to 1936, 1936 to 1940, and 1944 to 1945. A Social Democrat, he became Deputy Prime Minister to Lennart Haslund in 1928, and he was previously a Commodore in the New Norwegian Navy from the early 1910s to the early 1930s, serving as the Chief of Staff of Naval Operations in New Norway in the late 1920s. Jessen is best known for his leadership of New Norway throughout the Great War and the Conde War. He played a major role in laying the foundations of the New Norwegian welfare state and established New Norway's international reputation as a middle power fully committed to world order, independent from Scandinavia and Fredericania. He succeeded Haslund after Lennart Haslund passed away and Jessen became the Prime Minister. He strengthened the New Norweigan National Identity and Helped effectively destroy poverty, homelessness, and child mortality within New Norway.
Early Life
As a Young Adult, Jessen attended the Gothia Naval Academy in New Gothenburg and later graduated as a Captain. After Moving to New Gothenburg, he became a full member of the Navy but he was Dismissed in 1885 after he and two other Shipmen crashed an Oil Tanker off the Coast of Meductic. Now with no Job and Career, Jessen went to College and studied law and political science in the 1890s and became concerned with issues of social welfare. In 1900, he became deputy minister of the New Norweigan government's new Department of Labor. After moving to the Capital, Jessen met Admiral, Ragnar Mathiasen and became his mentee. Jessen left his post at the Department of Labor to rejoin the Navy as a Captain. Mathiasen took Jessen under his wing even though Mathiasen and Jessen often conflicted on Political Views. Jessen soon became a very popular commander and gained several allies in the Parliament, mainly due to his well-known charismatic attitude and lovable personality. Jessen then in 1908 became a Member of Parliament for his Hometown of Shaggami. Jessen soon gained Notoriety for being a very astonishing individual who wasn't scared to prove a point. Jessen joined the Christian Party in 1909 and Met with Oscar Lidegaard who was a General and had transformed the Traditionalist Christian Party into the Reformist Party. Jessen and Many other Social Democrats, Disillusioned with the Agrarian or Free Trade Party soon Flocked to Lidegaard and his Allies. A now Middle Aged Jessen became Lidegaard's number one supporter while Lidegaard is quoted as calling Jessen "Annoying".
