President of Qenuga
The president of Qenuga (Tagdamun: bilkatlut, Cienugueza: pezdente), acts as the head of state and government of the country, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Chungganese military. The president is elected through a ranked voting system by the electorate. Presidents may serve for at most two terms of 42 months each, however in times of intense events may serve a third term.
As of present, the president is Vaquín Ciatalano since April 1, 2017. As of modern-day, the president is TBD.
History
The first president of Qenuga was retired army general Fedrico Cinuti who was the centerface of the Cinutian Revolution, serving two terms as president from 1873 to 1880 under the Partida librica. The first peaceful transition of power occurred between Cinuti and Javira Fernandez on October 1, 1880 after the recently-concluded general election. The only president to die in office was Belmonte Equeta, whose term abruptly ended in September 19, 1916 and was succeeded by House Speaker Amaida Rosorez.
Ulian Dalían was the first Partida socilista candidate to be elected into the office in 1929. He, along with his successor Mariano Guzmán, were the main proponents of socialism in Qenuga. During the Cold War, many of their socialist policies were reversed by president Regino Cucoti. Cucoti also declared Martial Law in 1953 to suppress communism and other related ideals in the country. This lasted for 25 years until 1978, after demonstrations led by Librica candidate Vittoria Rubeno toppled the Cucoti regime.
