Queen Elena of Europa, born Elena of Romania, Princess of Hohenzollern (15 November 1953) is a daughter of Michael I, the former King of Romania and the widow of King Pietro I of Europa.
Life
She was born in Lausanne, Switzerland. She is second in the line of succession to the leadership of the Romanian Royal Family, followed by her son, and, as a descendant of Queen Victoria, she and her children are in the line of succession to the British Throne.
Family
Queen Elena married Pietro in 1978 while he was still prince. In 1983 they were crowned monarchs of Europa. They had four children:
- King Pietro II (1984)
- Princess Giulietta (1986)
- Princess Irina (1989)
- Princess Silvia (1991)
- Princess Maria (1995)
In 1997 Pietro died and her son became the king. In the early 200s the queen mother has retired to Diocletian's Palace, away from the public eye.
