Remania, officialy the Republic of Remania, is a country in the TBD subcontinent of southern Verdantis. Surrounded by the Great Eastern Sea to the north, east and south, and bordering with Baclia to the west. the Nation's capital and second largest city just short of Barano, is San Benedetto, both cities are situated in the northern half of the country, where now most of its industry also is. Remania is today best known for its open trade policy which to this day makes it a worldwide trading hub even for its rather contained size, despite not specialising in anything and being good at most things itself, Remania does have a considerable influx of rare metals coming from the still active colony of Nova Remania, the only remaining extra-Remanian territory to still be controlled by its central government. Furthermore it offers advanced Social Insurance, Universal Healthcare, as well as tuition-free education and subsidised tuition for university. Remania is a member of the SAFN, which it joined due to safety concerns while still maintaining open trade.

Remanian Prehistory

Thousands of artifacts dating as far back as 850.000 were excavated in the area comprising Remania, Pausania and Baclia, and more stable signs of civilization dating to 200.000 years ago discovered around the northern area of the sub-continent indicate the presence of strong pre-historic civilization in the zone.

before 2000 B.C. there were no signs of unified tribes, and most of them conducted nomadic lives...

The foundation of Remania

Starting from 1500BC and up until 750BC Circa, most Latin tribes united into Clans called Gentes and formed small villages or cities often named after the Gens itself, the most influential of which were the Gens Cicerelia and Gens Equitia, with smaller and less influential Gens in the north, including the Gens Aternia from which the country's founder Remus hailed.

in 733 BC, a union between the Gens Aternia, Gens Bellicia and Gens Hostilia was formalized in historical documents still available today, this union would be the origin of Modern day Remania, at the death of Romulus Aternius, Postumus Bellicius and Pompo Hostilius, which all took place between 700 and 695 BC in the span of five years due to mysterious causes, which sparked a civil war for the succession as ruler of the previous Civil Council commanded by the three elders, the young and enterprising Remus Aternius, heir to the Gens Aternia would come out on top in 675 BC circa, renaming the area comprised in the borders of the three cities Remania, and the capital city Aeternia, as was tradition, seeking to expand further in the coming years. Remus however didn't live to see Remania fully conquered, dying of old age in 635 BC, the full modern day expansion would be reached under the former Archon Legatus and second emperor Velthur Aternius, who was part of the same Gens as Remus but not closely related to him, while Imperial Remania (Pausania, Baclia and Remania united) would be achieved in 500 B.C. by Minatus Aternius, last ruler of Aternius descent and the one to implement the Republic and make the emperor a charge by election.

The Greater Remanic Empire

The Latinian Peninsula, now named Remania, was consolidated into a single entity during the Reman expansion and conquest of new lands at the expense of the other locals. A permanent association with most of the local tribes and cities was formed, and Remania began the conquest of the whole western part of the sub continent, dividing the lands in Regions that match the modern day borders of Baclia and Pausania before the death of Velthur, remaining mostly stable thereafter. In the wake of Aventinus Istacidius's -who also dismantled the senate and proclamed himself as the first Dictator of Remania- rise and death in the first century BC, Remania grew over the course of centuries into a massive empire stretching from Colytheus to Verdantis, and engulfing most of the Deyr Bay and the Grindgat sea, in which many cultures merged into a unique civilisation. The long and triumphant reign of the first true emperor, Septimus, began a golden age of peace and prosperity. Magna Aeternia remained the metropole of the empire, and as the homeland of the Remans and the territory of the capital, maintained a special status which made it Domina Provinciarum ("ruler of the provinces", the latter being all the remaining territories outside Latinia). More than two centuries of stability followed, during which Remania was referred to as the Rectrix Mundi ("governor of the world") and Omnium Terrarum Parens ("parent of all lands").

The Reman Empire was among the most powerful economic, cultural, political and military forces in the world of its time, and it was one of the largest empires in world history. The Reman legacy has deeply influenced Western civilisation, shaping most of the modern world; among the many legacies of Reman dominance are the widespread use of the Romance languages derived from Latin, the numerical system, the modern Western alphabet and calendar, and the emergence of Altralism as a major world religion.

Only after Dictator Septimus's death and the rise of his successor Trebius Septimus starting from 119 A.D. the empire would see a slow but steady decline.
