The Task Force 1 is a named fleet of the Sjøforsvaret. The mission of the Task Force 1 is to conduct the full range of Maritime Operations and Theater Security Cooperation missions, in concert with coalition, joint, interagency, and other parties, in order to advance security and stability in any area of the world at requirement of the Skandinavian government. It is also responsible for ensuring the projection of aero-naval and ground power.
It was created in 1991 after the reorganization of naval priorities with the end of the Cold War as the first necessary element to constitute a blue-water navy.
