Sandy Brigstowe

Sandy James Brigstowe (b. March 15, 1948) is a Georgeland media figure who is currently the Director-General of the Georgeland Broadcasting Corporation. His appointment as D-G in April 2005 was quite contraversial, as he had never worked for the GBC before in any capacity, normally a given for the position, and had instead worked for several commercial stations in Georgeland, the USA and Europe. Immediately prior to his appointment by the board of the GBC, Brigstowe had been a senior financial consultant to Rupert Murdoch's Sky in the UK. Brigstowe's financial and accountancy background was considered an important factor in his appointment, as the GBC has been accused of financial problems stemming from bad money management; Brigstowe has been moderately successful in reducing operating costs without any major reductions in staff or program quality.
