The Kingdom of Solcia is a Ludo-Irian kingdom in eastern Thrydacia. It was founded as a breakaway state of the Ludian Empire in OM 282, quickly rising to become one of the most powerful kingdoms in the region after the empire's collapse.
History
After being driven out of their homeland by the Nolossi, the Solcii tribe migrated to what is now Solcia around OM 230. After the conquests of Naubalates in 256, the Solcii were pushed farther east by the Ludians, and were eventually conquered. A Ludian report from 275 lists Solcia as one of the provinces of the empire, along with Nolossia.
In the 280s, the Ludian Empire began to collapse. Solcia became independent around this time, and established itself as a kingdom. By the middle of the fourth century, the kingdom had absorbed the Regobaldi and Catascapti tribes and settled the Oros Peninsula and the Eastern Isles.
Seuthai, the Solcian capital, was founded in 328 or 329 by Nassohalus. His reign saw a prosperous period of expansion and commerce. Trade links were established with Qaryaat and the Casphiron, and the colony of Laeberion was founded. His son, Prince Neboleptes, defeated Draka in the Neboleptine War, a six-year conflict that put an end to the Draka invasion of Benyisra. Modern archaeologists have unearthed the "Neboleptine Stone", a detailed treaty between Solcia and Draka that was carved in stone during the 4th century.
Neboleptes became King of Solcia in 365 and married Sonia, a Benyisran noblewoman. During his reign, the Solcians colonized Pyrgeiros and founded Sadaium. Neboleptes died fighting the Nolossi in 379 and was succeeded by his wife.
Sonia struggled to maintain her status as Queen of Solcia and keep the provinces unified. She made her best effort to ally with the people during her reign, gaining the nickname "the Builder" for her numerous contributions to the nation's infrastructure, with her road to Sadaium becoming the principal highway of Solcia. Still, many Solcians refused to accept someone who was both a woman and a foreigner as their monarch, leading to revolts and plots against her rule. In her distress, she fled to Benyisra by ship and lived with her father Ebromahan thereafter.
The period after the flight of Queen Sonia is known as the Solcian Interregnum. In the absence of a monarch, Seuthai came under the rule of an influential statesman named Akroricus, while the rest of Solcia split into warring factions vying for the throne. The largest faction was led by Catules Nassohalus, the brother of Neboleptes. In 393, Catules Nassohalus finally seized the throne after a series of bloody battles against pretenders, uniting the country once again. Akroricus fled to Sadaium and established an independent state there.
The Kingdom of Solcia grew in population and prestige for the next 200 years. It reconquered Sadaium in 553, and conquered Nolossia at the end of the 6th century.
Administrative divisions
Solcia is divided into seven administrative regions or provinces; they are, from west to east: Nolossia, Oros, Capezus, Seuthai, Corcys, Pyrgeiros, Sadaium.
