- Syrian civil war
- A Syrian Air Force helicopter is shot down in the Aleppo countryside by a surface-to-air missile used by Turkish-backed rebel forces killing both pilots. This is the second time this week that Turkish-backed rebels have shot down Syrian aircraft.
Art and culture
- Nepalese Sherpas condemn the Government of Nepal for planing to use the country's army to clear rubble and debris from Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks arguing that only the Sherpas can do it. A spokesperson for the army stats that they will be able to clear the debris.

- The first recorded case of the coronavirus in Africa emerges with a new case of it in Egypt.

- Tropical Cyclone Uesi makes landfall on Lord Howe Island in New Zealand's South Island.
Politics and elections
- 2019–20 Sierran protests, Aftermath of the Red Rock Castle crisis
- Protests are held outside of the Legislative Building in Riverside, Inland Empire in response to perceived inaction by the monarchy and federal government regarding the investigation into the late Prince George the Elder and his possible sex crimes.
- 2019–20 Algerian protests
- Thousands of Algerians take to the streets in the capital of Algiers and march as the first anniversary of the protests comes close. The protestors continue the calls for overhauling the political system and ending corruption.
