Armed conflicts and attacks
- Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen
- The Houthis launch several ballistic missiles and drones against Saudi Arabia, including its capital city of Riyadh. Tuki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, says that Saudi forces have "managed to intercept and destroy" the drones and missiles. The Saudi military claims that they've shot down eight booby-trapped drones that were targeting civilian areas and centers.
- Somali Civil War (2009–present)
- Two civilians are killed after a sucidie bombing occurs near a Turkish military installation in Mogadishu, Somalia, Turkey's largest overseas military base. Al-Shabaab claims responsbility for the attack.
Disasters and accidents
- 2020 Oaxaca earthquake
- A major earthquake strikes southern Mexico, with its epicenter being 24.1 km (15 miles) northeast of Santa María Xadani, Oaxaca. The earthquake is measured to have a 7.4 magnitude and a tsunami warning has been issued.
International relations
- Sierra–Saudi Arabia relations
- Prime Minister Susan Kwon announces that sanctions will be imposed on Saudi government and military officials and companies and will freeze Saudi assets held in the Kingdom of Sierra in response to civilian casualties caused by the Saudi-led coalition. Leader of the Opposition Nemesis Heartwell condemns the move and accuses Kwon of "betraying our great ally".
Law and crime
- Astorian president Quinn Foster signs into law a bill that prohibits non-citizens from purchasing real estate. The bill was opposed by the Labor-Democratic and Liberal parties while supported by the National and Blue Socialist parties.(Astoria Now)
- Killing of Rayshard Brooks
- Authorities in Fulton County charge a women with arson after she set fire to a Wendy's restaurant the day after Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by an officer of the Atlanta Police Department following a DUI investigation.
- Northeastern porn star Ron Jeremy is charged with rape and sexual assault of four women.
Sports
- 2020 NASCAR Cup Series
- George Floyd protests
- NASCAR and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conclude their investigation to a noose found in the garage area of Bubba Wallace, the lone African American driver in the series, at Talladega Superspeedway. The investigation concludes that the noose had been laying there for over a year and hadn't been moved since last fall.
