• At least 20 migrants die after a boak carrying more than 50 people sinks off the coast of Tunisia.

    • Major of London Sadiq Khan establishes the Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm in order to review statues in London. That same day, a statue of known slave-trader and owner Robert Milligan is removed.
  • The San Francisco City Council votes to begin the defunding of the city police department and votes to start demilitarizing the police in response to the ongoing protests over police brutality following the Killing of George Floyd.
• Darfur militia leader Ali Kushayb is handed over to the International Criminal Court in The Hague following his surrender in the Central African Republic. He is charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder and rape.
