The Green Leaves (album) (A World Without The Beatles)
The Green Leaves is the self-titled debut studio album by the English rock band the Green Leaves. Produced by lead vocalist John Lennon, it was released in the UK on EMI's Parlophone label on 15 July 1962. The album is 8 songs in length, and contains a mixture of cover songs and original material written by the partnership of band members John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe.

The Green Leaves had signed with EMI in May 1962 and had been assigned to the Parlophone label run by Martin. They released their debut single "One Son of a Gun" in September, only reaching number 40 on what would become the UK singles charts, but impressed George Martin. Impressed with the band, Martin suggested they record a live album and helped arrange their next single, "My Bonnie", which topped multiple unofficial charts and would be the band's only hit, falling into obscurity following their breakup due to poor reception. The album was well-received in the Liverpool area, where the band would be considered local celebrities at the time, but received mixed reviews from fans and critics outside of Liverpool where the band had formed months prior in February. The presence of several songs written by band members Lennon–Sutcliffe (credited as "Lennon–Sutcliffe" at the time) was unusual and marked the emergence of a "self-contained rock band" despite below average songwriting.
