The United States of America is a political union between the NORAD-controlled Western Sector and the Department of Defense-controlled United States. The sovereign state was established on December 11, 1986, after a long-standing dispute between the two nations on legitimacy to the claim of the former United States. It is not a political confederation, but instead two countries that share a head of state and legislature. Although according to law the two nations are a unified country, the Western Sector maintains a completely separate government excluding head of state and legislature, maintaining a separate cabinet and structure of government, similar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and their constituents.
