The Society of the Cincinnati is a hereditary society in the United Commonwealth of America, or the Antilles, and in a number of other Anglo-American nations. Founded in 1783 by Henry Knox, the Society of the Cincinnati was created to "uphold the fraternal bond" between the military officers of the Continental Army of the American Revolution and to "preserve the motives and ideals of the American Revolution", which to the society is: "liberty, brotherhood, and patriotism". Following a hereditary system, the society is made up of descendants of American revolutionary military officers. In the United Commonwealth, the Society of the Cincinnati is designated as a terrorist group for its support of "counterrevolutionary ideals" and "the overthrow of the worker proletariat".
