Chess pieces

The French introduced chess to Kalșeri, so Kalhan words for the individual pieces have French origins. (idea by Screwhorn)

  • ♟︎ Pión (pawn; from French pion)
  • Kalogi or Șevalierus (knight; șevalierus comes from French chevalier)
  • Falseri or Tur (rook; tur comes from French pion)
  • Fou (bishop; from French fou). Pronounced /fu/, the "o" is kept to distinguish from homophone fu ("nothing").
  • Dama (queen; from French dame)
  • Kargi or Rói (pawn; rói comes from French roi)

  • Autohémiata arkatruși (to outrun the headlights) - to drive very fast
  • Cartier-dínata fódași (to discover Cartier Island) - discover something that is already common knowledge (submitted by Screwhorn)
