The Utanium System is a triple star system located within the Far 3 kpc arm of the Milky Way, and is located just under 10 light years from the Polytinaris System. Its three component stars - Hertis, Hectis, and Hantis - are all small red dwarfs of spectral class M, much smaller and dimmer than the Sun. Utanium is quite an old star system as well, being about 10 billion years old. Because of this, its three component stars are rather quiet and do not experience major flaring events typical of other red dwarfs.
The Utanium System is very rich in its planetary systems, containing 28 planets in all; all of its stellar components possess their own planetary systems. Hertis and Hantis both have 10 planets, while Hectis has 8. A large majority of the planets around Hertis and Hectis are gas giants, but due to the low masses of their stars, most of them are quite modest in size. Hantis has more terrestrial planets than either Hertis or Hectis, but it only possesses two giant planets. Utanium has a total of nine habitable bodies, a high number even for any star system: Legia, Hemura, Gala, Dolnie, Oxtar, Sylcia, Friedrich, Grangia, and Borealia.
