Convention was a Dawn-Era event that took place on the Adamantine Tower. According to legend, Akatosh arranged a meeting of the et'Ada outside aurbic time. The purpose of this meeting was twofold: to decide Lorkhan's punishment for his involvement in the creation of the mortal plane, and for the et'Ada to decide whether to leave the Mundus or stay behind.

For the first issue, the et'Ada chose to separate Lorkhan from his divine heart. Trinimac tore out Lorkhan's heart and Auri-El fastened it to an arrow and shot it into the sea where Red Mountain eventually formed.

The divinities were split on the second question, however, and took separate paths. There were those who opted to return to Aetherius: the Magna-Ge, led by their patron Magnus, whose exit-tunnels in the aurbisal fabric became the stars and sun. There were those who elected to stay in the Mundus: the aedra, who became planetary deities, and the Ehlnofey, who became the bones of the earth as well as the ancestors of man and mer. There were also those who moved to occupy the space between earth and heaven: the daedra, who carved realms out of the void of Oblivion.

The final outcome of Convention was the start of linear time and the Merethic Era.
