Diemer

Place

The Duchy of Diemer (commonly referred as Diemer) is a duchy of the United Duchies of Central Kingdom. It is by far the largest duchy by area though its population is second-to-last. It is ruled by the House of Diemer and divided into four baronies. Its king is Charles Ehrenberg while the Duke is Finn Diemer and the Duchess is Bonnibelle Diemer both who are senior members of the Duchies' Council. The duchy accompanies what was formerly the Californian county of Tulare. The southernmost duchy, it borders a small strip of land known as Kern that separates Central Kingdom from the United States of JBR. Much of the population left the land to JBR before the Duchy or Kingdom was created. About 400,000 people lived in the Duchy's vicinity before the dissolution of the United States of America.

Etymology

The term "Diemer" is named after the House of Diemer. The Diemers decided to name their duchy after their name unlike the other duchies in Central Kingdom.

History

Diemer originally began as the Tulare County which was formed from parts of Mariposa County in 1852. Parts of the county's territory were given to Fresno County in 1856, to Kern County in 1866, to Inyo County in 1866 and Kings County in 1893.

Comandante Pedro Fages, while hunting for deserters in 1772, discovered a great lake surrounded by marshes and filled with rushes which he named Los Tules (the tules). Tulare County remained a county of California, United States until the dissolution of America. After the dissolution, the area was had no organized government and classified as an anarchic state. When the Inland War developed, the land opted to not join the conflict. Because of this, the area was never annexed to the United States of JBR shortly after the war ended.

In the late spring of 2011, the area and its neighbors agreed to unite as one country. The area became a duchy and was named the Duchy of Diemer when King Ehrenberg declared the Diemer House to be the rulers of Diemer. Currently, Diemer is planning on expanding its current cities.

Government

Diemer functions as an elective monarchy and a subdivision of Central Kingdom. Although ultimately ruled by the King, it is primarily ruled by the Duke and Duchess, the two has absolute power although can be override by the Privy's Council, Duchies' Council, or the King himself. The people who live in the duchy have the power to override the government's power through referendums or voting in an election. The duchy is divided into four baronies:
