Those included Vice Chief of the Strategic Command of Superior from 2013 to 2015 and CAFA Air Defense Commander from 2015 to 2016 before becoming the Chief of the Air Force Staff. He retired from the military in 2019. In October 2021 he co-authored a paper published with several other retired officers arguing that successive administrations had reduced the Superian Armed Forces in size and funding over the past two decades, undermining Superior's national defense and creating a potentially dangerous situation that could embolden the United Commonwealth. In February 2022, after the federal election in January, Englehart was appointed as Secretary of Defense in the Dillon Administration.
