Augusta, officially the State of Augusta, is a state in the western region of the Kingdom of Superior. It borders Regina to the east, East Yukon to the north, Frontier to the south, and New Georgia and the international border with Astoria to the west. The eastern part of the state is within the Great Plains while the western part borders the Rocky Mountains. It is home to slightly over 3 million people, with Edmonton and Calgary being the largest cities, each having a population of more than 1 million.
Augusta became part of the Kingdom of Superior after the collapse of Canada in 1930 along with several other Canadian provinces and territories, while the eastern half of the country was annexed by the United Commonwealth. Due to the fall of the Canadian state to Landonist revolutionaries backed by the United Commonwealth, Augusta petitioned to join the neighboring Kingdom of Superior and was accepted as a state by an act of the Superian Parliament in January 1931.
The oil and gas industry in Augusta represents a large part of the state economy, as well as 60% of Superior's oil and natural gas output. Hydrocarbons, petrochemical industries, livestock, agriculture and frontier technologies are the main sectors of the Augustan economy. Politically, the state is considered to be a stronghold of the United Conservative Party of Superior. The state is known for its natural beauty and hosting several important nature reserves.
