Cindy Zheng (Chinese: 郑雅菊; Pinyin: Zhèng Yǎjú; born on 16 April 1983) is a Rioblancoan politician, current Governor of Baynice and Leader of the Opposition.
She was also the Conservative presidential candidate in 2016.
Biography
Born in Laramie (BN) to a couple of Chinese immigrants coming from Shenzhen, Zheng found it difficult for her and her family to integrate with the Baynicean society.
She joined the Conservatives in 2009, serving as the Sheriff of Albany County from 2011 to 2012; after the term was over, she was elected Governor of Baynice.
In early 2015, Zheng announced that she would be running for President in 2016; at first, she was hampered by Keith Leeson and Kent Jackley, as well as the Conservative electorate consisting largely of "wasps", but as time passed, Zheng quickly surged at the polls, declaring that "the Conservatives needed new principles and embrace an electorate which would be loyal to the party, no matter the ethnicity or social background".
She later lost to incumbent President Bill Stanmourne, with the percentage of preferences being 54 to 40; the result was rejected by the Conservatives, especially by Secretary Ted Gozner, who went so far as to ask that the election be redone; Zheng herself did not intervene and dissociated herself from Gozner.
