The Continentalist Party of Brazoria is an anti-revisionist Marxist-Landonist communist party in the nation of Brazoria. The Continentalist Party is the second-largest Landonist party in the nation, after the United Landonist Party of Brazoria. Both parties claim in some part to be successors to the United Landonist Party of the Brazorian Confederation, which operated as the sole governing party of Brazoria from 1938 to 1989. However, the Continentalist Party claims to adhere to a more orthodox form of Landonism, having been formed in response to the United Landonist Party's perceived revisionism in the 21st century. Due to their similarities, the Continentalist Party has been described as a spoiler party.
The Continentalist Party was founded on June 18, 2005, merging from several smaller, left-wing factions. From its inception, the Continentalist Party has presented itself as an alternative to the more popular United Landonist Party, who the Continentalists consider no longer a Marxist party. The Continentalists are critical of the Landonists' perceived move away from orthodox Marxist doctrine, their gradual reconciliation with the new Brazorian regime, and the policies of incumbent Landonist leaders such as Henry Possetnick, who the Continentalists accuse of working in the interest of the status quo. The Continentalist Party coalesced and gained notoriety in the mid 2000s, especially after the poor showing of the Landonists in the 2004 Brazorian general election. The party's first elected representative to the Diet of Brazoria, General Secretary Robert Paulson, became a leading critic of Brazorian policy in the era, despite never taking his seat in the Diet. Since the 2000s, the party has steadily lost support, due to the death of key figures such as Paulson, the stabilization of the Brazorian state, and the party's radicalism compared to other members of the Brazorian left. The Continentalist Party has also been criticized for its links to the Continentalist Party of the United Commonwealth.
