Horizon Pictures (formerly known as Horizon Film (1981–1984) and Horizon Motion Pictures (1984–1992))), alternatively and doing business as Horizon, is a Superian film production and distribution company headquartered in Saint Anthony, Minnesota located at Horizon Studios. Since 1989, Horizon Pictures has been a subsidiary of Horizon Media Partners, a partially owned subsidiary of the Dynasty Group since 1992. Founded in 1981, Horizon Pictures is one of the biggest film studios in Superior and is involved in both film production and distribution for both cinema and television making films for both movie theaters and television.
Horizon Pictures was founded in 1981 as a successor to Sunset Productions following a merger between the latter company and Heartland Films. The studio would grow in size and by 1995, became one of the largest film studios nationwide and remains one of the biggest film companies in Superior as of 2022. Horizon has also been one of the largest acquisitions of the Dynasty Group. Since 2017, Horizon has gotten involved in streaming and has released films on streaming services such as Webbox since 2019. Horizon is one of the largest film studios in all of Anglo-America and is active in other countries like Astoria and the Kingdom of Sierra.
Horizon shares its name with a Superian film company founded in the 1909 and absorbed in 1959 by Superian Westfield, a former Superian branch of Westfield Pictures that distributed Westfield films and later produced its own. Horizon acquired Superian Westfield (by then independent from Westfield Pictures aside from the use of its name) in 1984, gaining full control to 1909-1959 Horizon and Superian Westfield library, as well as Superian distribution and home media rights to pre-1970 Westfield films.
