Lord Daen Renalden
Lord Daen Renalden, sixth Baron of Padrais and first Count of Kristallen, was a Doranthian aristocrat known for defending the northern Doranthian border against the Nanuist invasion in CY2378. Born at Castle Kristal in CY2321 to Lord Umbert Renalden, third Baron of Padrais, and Lady Ingvaline Renalden, he spent most of his life arounf the town of Tag Padrais, the seat of Kristallen. Educated by Tag Padrais parish priest Father Michael Lantros, he was also schooled in the military arts by Captain Dule Mendraos, commander of the Doranthian forces in Kristallen. Upon his father's death in CY2345, he inherited the castle and family title. Lord Renalden married Carinthia Mendraos, daughter of Captain Dule Mendraos, in CY2347, and had three children by her. In CY2367, King Luther VI of Doranthia granted him the Countship of Kristallen. Over the next decade, border squirmishes by the followers of Nanu increased. With the formal declaration of a Holy War on the Tahllic Faith, the Nanuists invaded Doranthia from the north in CY2378. The fifty-seven year old Count commanded the Doranthian forces in Kristallen against the Nanuists during the fierce fighting for control of the northern region. Despite heavy casulaties, the Doranthian force prevailed against the invaders, forcing them back into the Republic of Meterley. The fighting continued for another three years, but the Nanuists were never able to break through the Doranthian forces at the border. Count Daen spent his last years in peaceful solitude at Castle Kristal, dying at the age of sixty-seven in CY2388. He was succeeded by his only son Alfric as the second Count of Kristallen.
