Meijiriku (Eastern Manifest Destiny)

Meijiriku, (Japanese: 明治陸) officially the Meijiriku Special Trade Ward (Japanese: 明治陸特別貿易区) is a prefecture-level special ward of Japan located in North America. Originally set up as a trading colony in 1848, the territory shifted between an overseas territory of Japan and special status city-state before it was permanently given status as a special ward.

The area that Meijiriku occupied was part of the Spanish Empire prior to becoming part of the Japanese Empire.
