NATEX (backronym for National Alert and Emergencies Nexus) is an emergency warning, public interest, and electronic government service in Liberta. It is maintained by the Public Information Office, and developed by the homonymous Natex, Inc. on behalf of the Government of Liberta. The application provides a plethora of services, such as weather hazard alerts, power outage information, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, health and vaccination information. NATEX is also able to broadcast information about an abducted child, convey curfews, and provide navigation to emergency shelters. The application is available as both a website and a smartphone app, though it was initially only intended as an app. It was launched on September 6, 2010 for the iPhone iOS, later becoming available on Android as of early 2011. The NATEX website launched in 2015, supplementing the app. It was never released for Windows Phone as the domestic market share was negligible.
It is the most downloaded application in Liberta, with estimates of more than 90% of smartphones having the application installed. It is provided free-of-charge to all devices in Liberta under the government's duty to provide civil defense. Due to the importance of the application in emergencies, both local and national, the code and inner workings of the app are classified as confidential.
