Norvenia, also known as Little Norvenia or Norveny, is a historical region of eastern Nuro, lying north of Eicony, east of Bruckland, southeast of the Roenish Sea, south of the Straits of Hullin, and west of the Tsiha Ocean. It shares its etymology with the greater region of Norvea (or "Great Norvenia"), of which it is the easternmost part.

Geography

History

Main article: Mjoet

Following the Ice Age, Norvenia was part of a larger peninsula, known to the Irians as Mioetia ("land of the Mioeti"), which had been submerged by 450 BCE. Its memory persisted as the "land of Mjoet" in Norvian legend, ruled by the kingdoms of Pallund and Sallund.[1]

Norvenia was known to the Solcians, who gave it its common name. The Solcian definition of Norvenia included Vinad. The region was also referred to as Hethmora (later reused by medieval authors as a term for the landmass east of Norvenia) and Thenia (after the Thenes; now the name of a peninsula in Norvenia).

In the Middle Ages, Norvenia was populated by many tribes, including the Danns, Thenes, and Herls of the north, and the Metes, Jens, and Slani of the south. During the Age of Raids, the coast of Norvenia was a haven for pirates.

Peoples

The inhabitants of Norvenia are collectively called Norvenes. Historically, they were divided into numerous tribes (such as the Metes, Jens, and Slani).
