Paige Marie Reilly (born November 18, 1984) is a Sierran environmentalist, blogger, author, and political activist who is best known for her writings on politics, environmentalism, and other key issues from a liberal perspective. A member of the Green Party, Reilly is a recurring political candidate and has ran for public office at various points as the Green Party candidate for the Inland Empire Provincial Assembly and House of Commons. She is a writer for the Porciúncula Times and has worked for the paper since 2016.
In 2022, Reilly ran for the position of Leader of the Green Party during the leadership election that occurred shortly after the resignation of Jonathan Mueller after his defeat in the 2022 Sierran federal election. She ran on a center-left pro-environmentalist platform and supporting cooperation with the Democratic-Republicans in the near future. She came in third place in the election and endorsed Mark de Klerk for the run-off after suspending her campaign. As of 2020, she works full time for the Porciúncula Times and is known for her writings on climate change, calls to action to address the climate crisis, and harsh criticisms of politicians who deny or downplay climate change.
Early life
Paige Reilly was born on November 18, 1984 in the city of Riverside, Inland Empire. She was the eldest of two children and spent her adolescence in Riverside and visiting family in other cities across the province, having only traveled outside of the Inland Empire at the age of 12 for summer vacation. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Sierra, Riverside where she studied political science. During college, she worked as a telemarketer before quitting during her sophomore year and began working as an opinion writer for a local newspaper. In 2005, she traveled to Bernheim, San Joaquin where she studied the effects of years worth of terrorism and political violence during The Disturbances in the latter part of the 20th century and was praised for her research, non-biased approach, and coverage of sensitive topics.
In 2006, she published her first book in the form of a short story which was about a bar worker in 1970s Bernheim who supported the Sierran Republican Army and hid weapons in the bar he worked at. The story was inspired off of the real-life account of John Bateman, a Bernheim-based bartender who was arrested in 1976 for his role in supplying and hiding weapons for the SRA and their allies.
