===July Monarchy===
During the {{w|July Monarchy}} of 1830 to 1848, there were only two individuals proclaimed as prince royal: {{w|Ferdinand Philippe, Duke of Orléans}} and {{w|Prince Philippe, Count of Paris}}. Ferdinand Philippe, the eldest son of King {{w|Louis Philippe I}}, was proclaimed the Prince Royal of France following the establishment of the July Monarchy. However, as the title of ''Duc d'Orléans'' was considered more prestigious at the time, he almost exclusively referred to himself with that title rather than the title of prince royal. In 1842, Ferdinand Philippe had sufferred a brain injury following a carriage accident and died, resulting in his four year old son, {{w|Prince Philippe, Count of Paris|Philippe}}, becoming the new prince royal. In 1848, Louis Philippe abdicated the throne and the July Monarchy was abolished, though Philippe has been considered by some to have succeed his grandfather for a period of two days.
