- League of Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mia Bachelet says she's "horrified" by the targeting of civilians in the current offensive in northeastern Syria and accuses all parties involved in committing war crimes.

- Northeastern retailer Macy's announces that it will close 125 stores over the next three years citing competition from online sellers such as Amazon.

- Sierra's Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds Eurasian oil company Rosneft Trading S.A. on its financial blacklist for helping facilitate the sail of Venezuelan oil.

- A Dutch appeal court reinstates an order for the Eurasian Commonwealth to pay $50 billion over Yukos.
- A court in Denmark sentences a public employee to six-and-a-half years in prison for embezzling $17 million in Danish government funds meant to help the poor. According to her lawyer, she will not appeal the sentence.
Arts and culture
- A sarcophagus is discovered by archeologists while excavating the Roman Forum. It appears to be dedicated to Romulus, the founder of Rome.
Science and technology
- Archeologists announced that they've identified a Neanderthal skeleton that was unearthed in Shanidar Cave, Iraq, the first discovery of its kind in a decade. They argue that this proves that the Neanderthals buried their dead as the skeleton was found in a site next to one where smilier bodies were found surrounded by pollen clumps.
