  • 10 humanitarian workers are kidnapped in southwestern Nigeria by an unidentified group of gunmen, according to the workers' NGO. Gunment in the area have previously stolen several vehicles from the International Committee of the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières.

• At least 100 people are killed in the Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by lightning strikes as a monsoon storm batters the region.
