• Transport in Romania
  • The Bucharest Metro stops operations due to a strike by the trade union of the metro. Both Metrorex and the government decry the strike as illegal.

Disasters and accidents

• Sohag train collision
  • At least 32 people are killed and 108 more are injured following a train collision in Sohag, Egypt. The crash was caused by "unknown individuals" who intentionally triggered the emergency breaks on the first train, causing it to crash into the second one.
• 2021 Suez Canal obstruction
  • The Suez Canal Authority accepts an offer of help from the Continental Navy to deploy an assessment team of dredging experts to assist the efforts to remove the large container ship Ever Given as the canal has been blocked for four consecutive days.
