The 2022 New Hanover gubernatorial election was held on April 15, 2022, in order to elect who would serve as the next governor of the State of New Hanover. Incumbent governor James Holder of the Liberal Democratic Party stated his intent to run for re-election in August 2021 to serve a second term. In accordance with established tradition, Holder was endorsed by the Progressive Bloc and ran for the LDP nomination unopposed.
Holder was opposed by Doug Collins, a former state representative and talk radio host. Collins ran for the United Conservative nomination and was opposed by other United Conservatives and officials from the wider Conservative Coalition. Collins would win the nomination and was the Conservative Coalition and United Conservative nominee for the governorship.
Holder would be re-elected as governor, securing 60.1% of the popular vote or 586,987 total votes to Collins' 39.9% or 389,233 total votes. Holder was re-elected by a solid margin, but his share of the vote decreased by 3.2% compared to his first victory in 2018. This was credited to Holder's support for Jennifer Granholm during Courtgate which was brought up with corruption being a campaign issue of the election along with states' rights.
