Federal Pandemic Committee
The Federal Pandemic Committee (FPC) is an emergency body of adminstration established on 28 March 2020 in Georgeland to co-ordinate government response and policy during the coronavirus pandemic. When the committee was established the country had seen more than 1400 cases and ten deaths, and each state was reponsible for its own efforts to combat the pandemic. The body was established by the federal government to provide a national co-ordinated approach.
Under the 2012 Emergency Management Act, the FPC has the authority of Cabinet. This means its decisions are legally binding, and the FPC can provide advice and instruction to the President of Georgeland as if it were Cabinet. It is the first non-Cabinet body to assume this authority, granted by the Act under specific conditions for a limited period - the Act must be invoked by Parliament before July 1 if the FPC is to retain authority.
The FPC does not meet together in line with social distancing practices, and instead meets on an ad hoc basis over the internet.
