The Sea of Ghosts (Nordic: Draugarhaf; Bretic: Mor de spirites), also known as the Northern Sea (Nordic: Norrinhaf; Dunmeri: Chiduafe), is a frigid expanse of water to the north of Tamriel. It separates Tamriel from the arctic continent of Atmora. There are numerous islands in the Sea of Ghosts, many of them barren; others home to indigenous Nordic peoples as well as outposts of the East Empire Company.
History
In Nordic mythology, Ysgramor's son Yngol was lost to the Sea of Ghosts during an expedition to Skyrim, in an event known as the "Storm of Separation". The grieving father laid down Yngol's Barrow below Hsaarik Head to honor his son's memory.
