Dawnstar
Dawnstar (Nordic: Daanstar; Old Nordic: Danstrar) is a settlement on the northern coast of Skyrim, by the Sea of Ghosts. It is the seat of power in the Pale, and is situated north of Dunstad.
History
According to legend, the settlement was founded by the First-Era king Bergryf, after he slew a local sea serpent known as the Thirst.[1]
During the Imperial Simulacrum, Dawnstar was ruled by Ulrarne. Later in the Third Era, it was ruled by Macalla, who married Thian of Solitude, forming a personal union between the two realms. The area briefly came under the provisional government of Imperial commander Cyril Vinticae after suffering attacks by the Ice Tribes around 3E 427.
In the early Fourth Era, Dawnstar was wracked by immense waves coming off the Northern Sea in the wake of the Red Year eruption.
