The Speaker of the House of Delegates is the presiding officer of the House of Delegates of Superior, the lower house of the Parliament of Superior. As established in the Constitution of Superior, the speaker is the overall parliamentary and political leader of the House of Delegates who is elected to the position by the various Members of Parliament upon their nomination by their respective political party or coalition. The speaker is the de facto legislative leader of the majority party in the House of Delegates and carries out a number of administrative and procedural functions and roles including moderating debates and casting tie-breaking votes if need be and is responsible for a civil and proper conduct of legisaltive procedure in the House of Delegates.
The speaker, also known as the House Speaker, is one of the most powerful people in Parliament and is second in the presidential line of succession behind only the Deputy President. The current speaker is Jack Ryan, United Conservative MP from Uppasala, whose been serving as speaker since 2022, succeeding Liberal Democrat Connor Westing from Minneapolis.
