  • A mass shooting occurs in Kogi State, Nigeria with left 13 people dead and another six injured.
• Syrian Civil War
  • Five people are killed and another 12 injured in Tel Halef village, Syria, following a car bombing attack.

• 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season
  • Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to make landfall in the Southern United Commonwealth prompting some test sites to close for safety. The storm has already made landfall in Puerto Rico causing flooding, landslides and power outages.

      • Tokyo reports 367 new cases of COVID-19, the highest new jump of cases since the start of the pandemic.
      • Japan reports a new record single-day increase with 1,274 new COVID-19 cases being reported.

      • India reports its largest single-day increase in COVID-19 with 52,123 new cases being confrimed in the past 24 hours.
    • COVID-19 pandemic in mainland China
      • Mainland China reports 105 new cases of COVID-19, 96 of which are from Xinjiang.
    • COVID-19 pandemic in British Hong Kong
      • British Hong Kong reports its largest single-day increase in COVID-19 with 149 cases being reported in the last 24 hours, including one new death. Of these 149 new cases, 145 of them are locally tramsitted.
      • The government of British Hong Kong revises a day-old ban on indoor dining to stop the spread of COVID-19 and alters it to allow for indoor dining by publishing guidelines on how restaurants can operate inside, but mandates that restaurants can operate inside only during the day, keep the capacity at only 50% and with no more than two people at a table.

        • UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock announces that seperate households will no longer be allowed to meet indoors in Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire after midnight.

      • Romania reports a record 1,356 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
    • COVID-19 pandemic in Poland
      • Poland reports a record 605 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. Polish authorities warn of the reinstatement of quarantine measures for travellers coming from foreign countries.

    • COVID-19 pandemic in Australia
      • Victoria reports 723 new cases of COVID-19 along with 13 new deaths. It is the highest jump in the number of cases and deadliest day since the start of the pandemic in Austraia.
      • New South Wales reports its first COVID-19 cases from prison inmates as the state reports 18 new cases.
      • Queensland reports three new cases of COVID-19 in the state. One of them is a 20-year-old Astorian male traveller in hotel quarantine while the other two are a couple from Sydney's Apollo restaurant.

  • Stephen Parshall, a member of the Boogaloo movement, is arrested in Las Vegas, Clark, on charges of conspiring to commit terrorism at a Black Lives Matter protest. He also faces futher charges of child abuse.
