  • According to the Ministry of Interior, wildfires in northcentral Sierra have consumed one million acres (1,600 sq miles) over the past month. This represents 1% of Federal Sierra's land area.

    • COVID-19 pandemic in Italy
      • Italy reports 10,925 new cases in the last 24 hours, a new record for daily cases since the start of the pandemic. In response, the Italian government prepares to impose new restrictions.
      • Lombardy announces new restrictions to be imposed on midnight with bars only being able to serve seated customers at tables after 6 pm local time and the sale of takeaway alcohol is banned after that time. Under these new restrictions, the consumption of food and drink in all outside public places is banned.
    • COVID-19 pandemic in Cyprus
      • Cyprus reports 202 new cases in the last 24 hours, a new record for the country which suggests that the virus is spreading at a rapid pace as citizens fail to follow hygiene and social distancing protocols.

      • France reports 32,427 new cases in the last 24 hours as curfew is set to go into effect in Paris and other major cities across France in a bid to contain the virus.

      • Germany reports 7,830 cases in the last 24 hours, a record for the third consecutive day.

      • Ukraine reports 6,410 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the NSDC. In addition, 109 new deaths have been record in the last 24 hours, making it the deadliest day since the start of the pandemic.

      • Malaysia reports 869 new cases in the last 24 hours, the highest number of daily cases thus far since the start of the outbreak. Of these new caes, 451 are from Sabah.

      • Thailand reports two locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 for the first time in a month. This comes after two Burmese nationals living near the border in the country test positive.
