Versidue-Shaie was a prominent Tsaesci who is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of Tamriel. As potentate, he ruled much of the continent after the fall of the Reman dynasty. Though initially the emperor's trusted advisor, he took over the imperial throne after the death of Reman III, and declared martial law when his vassals rebelled.
Versidue-Shaie is responsible for passing the monumental Guild Act, ordering the construction of Blackrose Prison,[1] and declaring the start of the Second Era after 1E 2920. He was assassinated by the Morag Tong in Senchal in 2E 324.

The first part of his name has variously been rendered as Versidu, Versidus, Versciu and Vershu; the last, Shae, Sciae, and Sciaie.
Personality
Versidue-Shaie was known for his tactical brilliance and political savvy, as well as his mastery of arcane magic. He was instrumental in solidifying the power of the Potentate and expanding its influence throughout Tamriel. Versidue-Shaie was also known for his cruelty and ruthlessness, as he was willing to do whatever it took to maintain his grip on power.
