The cinema of Superior, colloquially referred to as Plainswood, is the national Cinema of the Kingdom of Superior. One of the more prolific cinemas, Plainswood maintains close relationships with other Anglo-American Cinemas, including Hollywood. Superian cinema has been heavily influenced by German cinema, with many famous directors coming from Germany.
The Western is perhaps the genre most associated with Superian cinema. These films, shot in northwestern states like Wyoming, helped define many of the tropes and traditions of the genre, and introduced many iconic characters, such as Winnetou. In greater Anglo-American cinema, all three of the big three Superian studios are classified as "mini-majors".
