Mari (Libertan English: /mɑːri/ or /ˈmɛri/; Latin: [marɪ]), officially the Free and Fair City of Mari is a neighborhood situated in the southeast of Protopolis, Liberta. It is bounded by three Protopolan neighborhoods, Occa to the south, Jurea to the west, Dormea to the north, and to the east by four neighborhoods in Oriens, Novea, Pasce, Iea, and Vesperum.

The name Mari is likely derived from Mare or Marinus, Latin for "sea" and "of the sea," respectively. The etymology in turn, is linked to the early history of Liberta and up until 200 AD, when Mari served as the main harbor for fishing vessels. Following the gradual expansion of the island, Mari lost its harbor, and the area became impoverished. Due to its proximity to the Hall of Decision, Mari gentrified in the Aurelian era. Since then it has fluctuated between wealth and poverty throughout history, but has since the 17th century remained affluent. Mari retains a ceremonial Department of Fisheries. Most historians and archaeologists estimate Mari was founded around 30 BC, being part of the island during Libertas earliest history. Since the start of the 20th century, Mari has undergone a multitude of restoration and structural reinforcement infrastructure projects.

Mari is a part of and the fourth neighborhood in the oldest borough, Protopolis. It retains the fourth seat in the Senate. It is generally a conservative stronghold, having consecutively elected a conservative representative since the 1994 election. The nickname "Mack' row" is derived from "mackerel row," a street in central Mari.
