The Assistant to the President on National Security Affairs, more commonly known as the National Security Advisor (NSA) is a cabinet-level position and a senior aide to the President of Superior based in the Executive Mansion. The National Security Advisor is the principal advisor to the president on issues of national security and is an important figure in regards to the nation's foreign policy, especially on military matters. The officeholder is appointed by the President themselves without the need for confirmation by the High Council unlike all cabinet members and their time in office is determined by the consent of the President.

The National Security Advisor is one of the key figure and co-chairs the National Security Council along with the Secretary of National Security, a formal cabinet position and the NSA's civilian counterpart, and oversees meetings with council members and those of the cabinet such as the President, Deputy President, and the Secretary of Defense alongside the National Security Secretary.

The post was created in 1955 by John Claremont of the Conservative Party as a means of assisting the federal government in regards to foreign policy as a means of protecting Superior from the United Commonwealth and other Landonist states during the Cold War. Unlike the Secretary of National Security, the NSA is typically an officer of the Superian Armed Forces and has years of experience and a high rank in the military. Typically, officeholders come from various branches, though a good portion have been former officers of the Superian Royal Army.
