  • 2021 Mogadishu suicide car bombing
    • At least 20 people are killed and another 30 injured in a suicide car bombing outside of a restaurant in a port in Mogadishu, Somalia.
• Syrian Civil War
  • Eleven people are injured and one is killed after rocket strikes occur on oil refineries near Al-Bab in Jarabulus, Syria.

Disasters and accidents

• An 8.1 magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of North Island, New Zealand, resulting in a tsunami warning being issued. The earthquake was preceded by a 7.4 magnitude foreshock and followed by a 6.1 magnitude aftershock.
