Each Event is preceded by Prophecy. But without the Hero, there is no Event.
In Tamrielic history, the Third Era (3E) was the age of the Septims, beginning with the unification of Tamriel under Tiber Septim at the end of 2E 896, and ending with the death of Martin Septim in 3E 433, at the resolution of the Oblivion Crisis which heralded the Fourth Era.

1st century
- 3E 0 — Having conquered all of Tamriel, Tiber Septim proclaims the Third Era.
- 3E 12 — First publication of the Encyclopedia Tamrielica
- 3E 20 — Birth of Redguard historian Destri Melarg
- 3E 38 — Death of Tiber Septim; Pelagius is crowned emperor
- 3E 41 — Death of Pelagius; Kintyra is crowned empress
- 3E 48 — Death of Kintyra; Uriel is crowned emperor
- 3E 55 — Birth of Antiochus
- 3E 64 — Death of Uriel I; Uriel II is crowned emperor
- 3E 67 — Birth of Potema
- 3E 82 — Death of Uriel II; Pelagius II is crowned emperor
- 3E 97 — Birth of Uriel Mantiarco

- 3E 99 — Antiochus is crowned emperor
2nd century
- 3E 104 — Birth of Kintyra II
- 3E 110 — War of the Isle against the Maormer
- 3E 111 — Founding of the Knights of the Nine
- 3E 119 — Birth of Thoriz Pelagius (future Pelagius III)
- 3E 120 — Death of Antiochus; Kintyra II is crowned empress
- 3E 121 — War of the Red Diamond; Uriel Mantiarco seizes the throne as Uriel III
- 3E 123 — Kintyra II dies in captivity
- 3E 127 — Uriel III is captured at the Battle of Ichidag in Hammerfell, then killed by an angry mob en route to his trial. Cephorus is crowned emperor.
- 3E 137 — Potema dies during a siege of Solitude by Cephorus.
- 3E 140 — Death of Cephorus; Magnus is crowned emperor
- 3E 145 — Death of Magnus; Pelagius III is crowned emperor, quickly becoming known as "Pelagius the Mad"

- Death of Pelagius III; Katariah is crowned empress
- The Knights of the Nine become defunct with the death of their last member and founder, Amiel Lannus.

- Oblivion Crisis: On the 27th of Last Seed, Emperor Uriel Septim VII and his heirs are murdered by the Mythic Dawn, a secret cult devoted to Mehrunes Dagon. Gates to Oblivion open all over Tamriel as Dagon begins to invade the mortal plane. The Crystal Tower falls; Kvatch is destroyed; Aldruhn is sacked.
- The Hist calls Argonians from across the continent back to Black Marsh. Led by the An-Xileel, the Argonian armies launch a counter-invasion of Oblivion.
- The Daedric invasion is ended at the Imperial City, as Martin Septim transforms into an avatar of Akatosh and defeats Mehrunes Dagon. His sacrifice ends the Septim line and begins the Fourth Era.
- Oblivion Crisis: On the 27th of Last Seed, Emperor Uriel Septim VII and his heirs are murdered by the Mythic Dawn, a secret cult devoted to Mehrunes Dagon.
