The Fourth Era (4E) is the most recent and current period of Tamrielic history. It was preceded by the Third Era.

- End of the Oblivion Crisis; start of the Fourth Era
- Rise of the An-Xileel in Black Marsh
- 4E 5
- Red Year — Baar Dau crashes into Vivec City, obliterating it, and turning the surrounding area into Scathing Bay. The impact triggers a massive eruption of Red Mountain, which lays waste to Vvardenfell and spreads destruction throughout Morrowind. Refugees flood into Skyrim and eastern Cyrodiil. Volcanic ash and aftershocks destroy Fort Frostmoth on Solstheim.[1]
- A tsunami from the Vvardenfell eruption strikes the northern shore of Skyrim, weakening the cliffs around Winterhold and causing damage to Dawnstar and Windhelm.
- 4E 5–9
- Accession War — Taking advantage of the province's weakened state, the Argonians invade Morrowind to exact revenge for centuries of slavery. The primary slaver houses, Dres and Telvanni, are nearly wiped out. House Redoran musters a defense and halts the Argonian advance, but parts of southern Morrowind remain under Argonian occupation. The invasion exacerbates the ongoing Dunmer refugee crisis.

- Hlaalu-Imperial forces counterattack in the Knahaten region, briefly taking Stormhold and developing a strategy to target Hist trees.[2]
- Battle of Scarlet Snows: Redoran-Sadras forces drive the Argonian hordes into the south.[2]

- End of the Accession War; the Argonians continue to occupy the former Dres areas
- Restructuring of the Great Council; radical elements take hold and the Hlaalu are made into a scapegoat
- 4E 10
- Assassination of Potentate Ocato, beginning the Stormcrown Interregnum
- Secession of Leyawiin[2]
- The Thalmor initiate a purge of "impure" Altmer throughout the Summerset Isles.[3]
- 4E 11 — Thules the Gibbering is elected potentate by the Elder Council.
- 4E 13 — Colovian warlord Titus Mede rises to power in the West.
- 4E 16
- Battle of the Brina Cross: Titus Mede defeats a coalition of rival warlords in the West.[2]
- The High King of Skyrim formally grants Solstheim to the Dunmer. The East Empire Company divests from Raven Rock.
- The Hlaalu Purge begins with a massacre in Cheydinhal, orchestrated by agents from the other great houses and abetted by the mercenary-king Eddar Olin.[2]
- 4E 17
- Titus Mede seizes the Imperial City, beginning the Mede dynasty.
- Having seized vast swathes of the Nibenay, Eddar Olin marches northward against Titus, but is defeated.
- The Penitus Oculatus are established to replace the Blades.
- 4E 20 — The rulers of Skyrim consecrate Refugees' Rest as a monument to the Dunmer who took refuge in Skyrim after the Red Year.[4]
- 4E 21 — Death of Sagad the Sage, king of the Rift; Hrottir becomes king
- 4E 22
- The Thalmor officially secede from the Empire and rename their nation "Alinor".
- Titus Mede II is crowned "Emperor of Tamriel", although the Empire only controls part of the continent.
- 4E 26 — Birth of Attrebus Mede
- 4E 27 — Death of Hrottir, king of the Rift; Aetthe becomes queen
- 4E 29
- The Thalmor and the Mede dynasty clash over Valenwood. The Imperials are forced to retreat from the province by year's end.
- Valenwood unites with Alinor to form the Third Aldmeri Dominion.
- 4E 31 — Birth of Annaïg Hoïnart
- 4E 37 — Blacklight War[2]

- The Blacklight Armistice preserves the power of the East Empire Company in Morrowind.[2]

- Night of Green Fire
- Birth of Vonvir the Long-Mouth
- 4E 44 — Assassination of the Mane; Elsweyr falls into chaos
- 4E 48 — Umbriel Crisis
- 4E 50 — Birth of Alexia Vici
- 4E 51 — Birth of Mereus Mede
- 4E 54 — Death of Titus Mede; Attrebus succeeds him as emperor
- 4E 55 — Antigonus, half-brother to Attrebus Mede, launches his own claim to the throne of Cyrodiil, with loyal Orcish legions at his back.[2]
- 4E 56 — Attrebus defeats Antigonus, who is slain at the Battle of the Gilded Hills.
- 4E 60 — Death of Aetthe, queen of the Rift; Srula becomes queen
- 4E 65
- Death of Brara Morvayn; Lleril succeeds her as ruler of Raven Rock
- 4E 73 — Birth of Titus Mede II
- 4E 77 — Death of Attrebus Mede; Mereus succeeds him as emperor
- 4E 79
- Death of Mereus Mede, who is succeeded by a regency council
- Death of Srula, queen of the Rift; Vonvir becomes king
- 4E 83 — Storms wrack the Northshore, culminating in the Great Collapse, in which much of Winterhold falls into the Sea of Ghosts. Dawnstar also suffers extensive damage, while catastrophic flooding in Hjaalmarch sweeps away the old settlement of Flodheim.
- 4E 85 — Birth of Hoag Stormcloak
- 4E 90 — Titus II is crowned emperor at the age of 16

- The Void Nights begin.
- Assassination of Vonvir, king of the Rift; Hosgunn Crossed-Daggers takes power
- Birth of Vittoria Vici
- 4E 99 — Latest disappearance of Artaeum
2nd century
- 4E 100

- The Great Fire of Riften occurs as a result of a popular revolt against Hosgunn Crossed-Daggers, who is killed amid the chaos. Kusik takes charge in the aftermath, but does not claim the kingship of the Rift.

- 4E 101 — Skald Felgeif becomes jarl of Dawnstar
- 4E 102 — An Argonian raid on Solstheim is repelled by the Redoran Guard under Lleril Morvayn.
- 4E 115 — Elsweyr joins the Dominion
- 4E 121 — The Great War begins.

- 4E 130 — Second Treaty of Stros M'Kai
- 4E 131 — The ebony mines of Raven Rock are completely exhausted, and the colony turns to hunting and fishing for sustenance.
- 4E 132 — Wayrest falls to corsairs.

- Gang warfare erupts in Bravil.
- Death of Hoag Stormcloak

- Ulfric Stormcloak kills High King Torygg, sparking a civil war in Skyrim.
- Destruction of Helgen, heralding the Dragon Crisis
- An Imperial-backed coup places Maven Black-Briar on the throne of Riften.
- The Empire is plagued by a spate of assassinations, including Vittoria Vici, Gaius Maro, and ultimately, the emperor himself. The Dark Brotherhood claims responsibility, and is subsequently rooted out by the Penitus Oculatus, albeit too late to stop the political ramifications.
