The Cabinet of Zhao Meijin was the Executive Yuan of the Republic of China from May 26, 2016, until June 20, 2020. It was appointed by President Ren Longyun after the 2016 Chinese presidential election, the last cabinet during his presidency, and lasted until he stepped down after the 2020 election, which was won by Zhao Meijin.
Cabinet formation
After being reelected in 2016, President Ren Longyun replaced Wu Kaiping as the head of government with Zhao Meijin, at the time widely seen as a potential successor to Ren, who announced in 2016 that he would not run for reelection again in 2020. Gradually he began to allow Zhao, who had previously been the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Wu Kaiping's government, to have a greater role in running the state. Zhao formed a new cabinet in which half of the previous ministers were replaced, largely with others who were also affiliated with the Kuomintang.
